‘Mannenverbod’ in Belgische asielopvang is tegen de wet, maar de overheid zet toch door
“‘Ban on men’ in Belgian asylum centers is against the law, but the government persists”. The Belgian government’s decision to prioritize families due to a chronic shortage of shelter spaces for asylum seekers lacks a legal basis. Despite this, they continue to implement it, even though it violates the Belgian Reception Act of 2007, which guarantees certain rights to all asylum seekers, regardless of gender. The situation reflects broader challenges faced by European countries dealing with migration patterns and insufficient accommodation facilities.
